Miyu was born December 13, 2013 10.30 pm ct in East Jakarta. Her parents worked for [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBDO BBDO Worldwide] in Jakarta at that time and are both university graduates. Her mother graduated at the University of Indonesia and her father graduated at the  Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). Her mom visited Japan first time a couple months before Miyu was born. It was on her lifetime bucket list. So when a girl name was needed, the parents had chosen Japanese name Miyu. The English meaning of the name Miyu depends on the Japanese kanji used, but common meanings include "beauty," "gentleness," and "superiority". Other possibilities include "beauty" and "dream," "beauty" and "play," "beauty" and "evening," or "heart" and "tenderness". In 2018, Miyu visited Japan with her family "again". Miyu never thought about becoming a dancer from the start. Instead, she wanted to be a police officer or a soldier. She admitted that she has been fangirling over Wanna One and BTS since she was 5 years old. When she discovered her love for the Korean KPop boy groups, she also uncovered a passion for dance. But those ones really wanted her to dance were her Kindergarten teachers at her age of 6. The very first one was Ms Dewi and then other teachers of Kindergarten. Miyu’s talent and passion have made her a fast learner, easily mastering difficult dance moves that even adults struggle with. Semmy thinks that Miyu is number one in Asia for girls her age. Miyu  somehow doesn't like to be praised that way and prefers to be humble. She thinks her closed competition for girls her age is Malaysian Kai Xing Lee, who is about 1-2 years older than her. She felt that China is a stronghold for many up-coming freestyle talents before Vietnam and Malaysia. Sem got later first just a licence for teaching students and he made a career of it. He became 7-to-Smoke Champion at Radikal Forze Jam 2015, Singapur, Champion at 2v2 Open Styles, HipHop und 7 to Smoke at Style In Motion Vol 4, Malaysia, Champion at 11 HipHop Battle im Nastiest, Singapur, 3v3 Open Styles Champion at Radikal Forze Jam 2017, Singapur, Champion at 1v1 Popping Battle of Wudang 2019, China, Champion des V1 Freestyle Online Battle 2020, Russland, Runner-Up HipHop & Top 4 Popping at the 5. Because musicality was like a pursuit in the sense of doing styles for him for actual freestyle. Afterwards Harry Lee said frank to him, ''"You have the skills, but your foundation is not strong."'' He did a full month intensive training with him. When Miyu went to Osaka Semmy's old teacher visited her as well. Miyu’s dedication to improving her craft is evident even during dance classes, where she tirelessly repeats each step until it’s perfect. Her enthusiasm to learn is illustrated by her willingness to seek guidance from her classmates, displaying her humility and determination to grow as a dancer. But her strongest supporters are her parents. They take her to dance classes, they try to understand the fundamentals and culture of dance, discussing it, although they are not dancing themselves. To quote her "Just be free!" - Fear leads to the dark side of the force. - Later she admitted that sometimes she actually gets nervous before the battle.

She learns freestyle "choreography" by learning some basic style choreography and then altering it more and more. So she memorized basic movements and choose intuitively by her musicality, opponents and battle situations what fits best and rattling off her practiced basic movement sequence in battles. So she can even recognize some basic style combos of her opponents or her class mates, she has been watched and studied before, and are executing them in synchronization from the border of the jam with her opponents or crew mates. The more battles she attends and is watching, the more her movement vocabulary extends she can add to her own foundation. She got the power for the battles by constantly practicing rounds. She recommends start slowly and get more hungry for going more full out next round. That gave her strength and endurance. Her priorities on a battle are: First having fun, second musicality, third moves and fourth judges expressions. When the judges have a poker face, she is really worried.

She has a main Instagram account managed my her mom. she started on September 29, 2025 her own official TikTok and a side Instagram Account @miyusimatamiyu (''Miyu, the Matamiyu''). She is complaining that people open a TikTok account or a YouTube channel with her name, but didn't mark, it's just a fan account. But her Instagram is beautiful, with detailed relevant highlights of her life and had in May 2025 already 470K+ followers. On December 2, 2025 it passed already one million followers.

Freestyle is her favoured genre - she won an award in that category during her first competition: "It's more free than choreography too so it's not so much thinking exactly, it's just like freedom." Miyu's father Haris Pranoto said dance classes keep his daughter in top form as she competes across Indonesia almost every month, from Jakarta to Bali to South Sumatra. "Miyu has trained more for dance battles actually. So mentally, she has the courage for a dance battle." When she is not dancing, Miyu divides her time between school and taking piano and voice lessons. So Miyu lives in a very conservative environment where Hip Hop is still a underground movement, especially for girls and being such young. Many girls she is battling in Indonesia wearing headscarfs. Still just 11 years old, she wants to be a full time professional dancer, and teaching too. The Singapur based agency put her in their section for artist under age 19 called ''Baby Jam Squad'' with young talented dancers and choreographers, such as Ayden Nguyen (USA), Bella Black (NZL), Amy Liu (CHN), Ria Yamada (JPN), Kai Xing Lee (MYS) and Sienna Miroforidis (AUS). But to go full professional, she has to finish school first. Maybe she will change her taste about her future occupation later, including university; who knows. At the moment, she can imagine to run her own dance studio in the future. In a scale from 1 to 10, how she thinks to like dance in future she rates over 10. She wants to continue singing, but dancing has more priority.
