Nicknames Mata Miyu, matamiyu (mata is Idn. for eye. In Jap. Kenji - また会う - it means 'See you again')

Miyu Ananthamaya Pranoto (born on December 13, 2013, also known by her stage name Mata Miyu, or together with small or big m matamiyu or short Miyu (not standardized)) is an Indonesian professional young multi-talented freestyle, openstyle and hiphop dancer, choreographer, model, an amateur singer and pianist, and a student. She is living in Jakarta, Indonesia.

She was featured as part of the Mega Crew Mission of Team Motiv with the motto We the People on Korean Reality Drama TV show World of Street Woman Fighter in 2025, where she is carrying the American flag in the group of ethnic different dancers as Indonesian girl and has been watched in 23 countries. As reminder, it was exactly at the time when Stormtroppers marched into Los Angeles to conquer it for Darth Vader. Miyu wanted to join dance battles by watching Street Woman Fighter Season 1 in 2021. So the full cycle closed. World of Street Woman Fighter Behind the scenes. After that the official Instagram account of the Consulate General of Indonesia in Houston, U.S. itself has spotted her as a national highlight as well as many Indonesian newspapers and broadcast stations. On November 16, 2025, she won by the Freestyle Session Kids 2on2 Open Style World Championship 2025 in Los Angeles, USA with her friend Amy Zhang (黑悦敏) her very first grand title before she even turns twelve.

It all started with the Radikal Forze Jam international competition and the Summer Jam Dance Camp Workshops 2023 in Da Nang, Vietnam where Miyu's astonishing short video performance on the @stanceelements YouTube channel attracted more than 42 million views and was going viral - Miyu's first international debut at RF Jam 2023 - for the open kids category. Plus a crowd reaction video with about 50M views[42] and the original post on @stanceelements with 30M+ views on Instagram[43]. No qualification was needed. The judges picked her in preliminary for the real battles. The optical camera caught-up her connection with the force. First Top 16, then Top 8 for '7 to smoke'. Miyu didn't win, but the Malaysian 10-old girl named Kai Xing with seven points dominating[44], who became later her team mate of Baby Jam Dance Squad (full stream). Then Anthony Lee of the Kinjaz sensed a disturbance of the force in his workshop and was properly asking himself who the little toad in front row center is who dared stealing them the show.[45] So he called Miyu up to repeat the routine on the platform. BBC reported about some laser sword fighting and Mata Miyu got first time public eye in classic media, too. She got the trip to Vietnam for her first international battle as birthday gift to meet some of her dance idols. Today, she is surrounded by her dance idols every week.

As of September 4, 2025, Miyu has already achieved remarkable success winning multiple titles, attended as far as known at least 17 international competitions abroad, had visited already three times the United States, plus seven more foreign countries. She had won six abroad titles, twelve Indonesian titles, including ALL AGE ON FIRE HIPHOP FREESTYLE Championship Indonesia 2025, Allstyle Teenager Side at FEEDBACK KOREA 2024 - Feedback 2 Show (her very first a full choreography ever)[46], U-12 FUTURE Dance Battle and U-15 BATTLE AFTER SCHOOL and 2v2 Teenagers FUTURE Dance Battle in Osaka, Japan and Allstyle Kids 1 vs 1 Battle Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in 2024. She won two Gold and one Silver medals, 20 Runner-Up titles and attended six adult and three kids '7-to-Smoke' finals. She’s become a trailblazer for young dancers in Indonesia. Despite her small body, has quite a big name in the world of dancing by attending tons of national and international battle competitions since her just four and half years seriously dancing at her age of 11. Even more than a thousand people crowd doesn't distract her to get into the zone.

Miyu has gone viral many times for her commanding performances at competitions, where she’s often seen sharing the stage with adult dancers, made her a global dance sensation. Most impressive, she was competing with some of the best adult street dancers on the world and she already got runner up on 3 vs 3 with her Team Danzel at the FLAVA OF THE YEAR in Los Angeles, USA 2024 against Team of Red Bull Dance Your Style World Champion 2024 MT Pop and on Afro Jam Dance Camp Battles March in Bangkok, Thailand 2025. So she got invited to the Open Styles x 7 To Smoke stance x RADIKAL FORZE 2025 at Da Nung, Vietnam again, included three times Red Bull Dance Your Style World Finalist Kid Nimbus, twice Red Bull Dance Your Style World Finalist and USA Champion The Crown, and she made into Kids and Adults Top 8 (Stance Miyu vs Danzel Indonesia Special)[47], at Open Style 7-to-smoke Final Respect Culture Breaking in Kaohsiung, Taiwan (full stream) and had to battle in first round Red Bull Dance Your Style World Champion 2022 The D Soraki, and to the Freestyle Session World Finals Los Angeles, USA in 2024. Also epic her Top 16 Hip-Hop battle versus legend Rochka Noël (France) at Line Up X Street Culture Festival 2025 in Gwangju City, South Korea.

She has partnership collaboration with Nike and JD Sports Indonesia. Dancing on runway [48] She did a commercial for Pizza Hut Indonesia. Small ad for Sony | Audio Indonesia for the new generation Alpha Ghettoblaster. Miyu has also a talent as kid model and is really good in front of the camera - Hush Puppies Indonesia × Martcellia Liunic, Hypebeast ID, Clip by Hypebeast ID, JD Sports Indo x Zodiac Jakarta x Hypebeast ID, DREAMBIRDS, New Era Cap Indonesia popbela.com & Beautyfest.asia and it brought her to her first bigger Nike x JD Sports Indo commercial, which helped her on the road to cover all the costs for go more internationally. Later she worked with Stanceelements as highlighted star to produce many dance videos went viral. Meanwhile Daniel Zhu, the owner of Stance - Kai Vertigoh Interview - Building a Worldwide Dance Platform w/ Daniel Zhu of Stance Elements, is realizing he can re-post a throwback of Miyu's old viral dances on social-media and it goes viral again. At the beginnig at Miyu's pro career she started showcasing freestyle in shopping malls with lesser crowd. About three months later she did it in the Grand Batam Mall powered by Nike x JD Sports Indo with packed galleries. By connection to Basketball scene, she was doing basketball halftime leagues shows for DBL Indonesia with the Jakarta DP Dancers and later on the televised Indonesia Basketball League All-Stars Halftime Show on April 2024 or on IBL promo events.

But she is still a student just working on weekends and school holidays. Despite the size of Yoda and the hair style of Princess Leia she is still ranked Padawan. She signed for Jam Republic Agency concerning dance inquires. Beside her native language bahasa Indonesia Miyu speaks English well, she understands also some pieces of Korean, Japanese and Mandarin. She is singing on competition level and is playing the piano. In her freetime she enjoys drawing, photographing, swimming, reading books, solving the Rubix Cube fast, playing One Piece trading cards, and Bulbasaur (kids insider stuff). Miyu is good in school, but her toughest challenge is remembering her classmates, teachers - many are knowing her since Kindergarten - and herself that there is no "Primadonna" seat in school and nothing has changed for all of them. After she turned her school uniform on, she has to smash the school door in front of the reporters, make her fans learn the Indonesian school holidays schedule and try get into the zone in class now, easy it was before her fresh world renown. Correction: There is a "Primadonna" seat for school when when Miyu landed in Los Angeles on October 8, 2025 for the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final and another week to compete on Culture of 4 Street Dance Festival in Chicago. Same for the week at November when she did Freestyle Session Worldchampion 2025 in Los Angeles again. Made it five times two ways Indonesia-USA (0.9 - 1.2 mSv radiation). As birthday gift we propose she gets a Geiger counter. On the way back she made as usual a pitstop in Seoul and performed with the World of Street Women Fighter cast at the last concert of On Real Stage tour and batlled televised against Marlee Hightower, Second Cam in Suwon on November 22, 2025.

Biography

Miyu was born December 13, 2013 10.30 pm ct in East Jakarta. Her parents worked for BBDO Worldwide in Jakarta at that time and are both university graduates. Her mother graduated at the University of Indonesia and her father graduated at the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). Top 1 and Top 3 of the Indonesian universities. Her dad still works for BBDO Worldwide. Her mom visited an Islamic secondary school[49][50] and seems to work in the Indonesian film industry as sort of production designer or creative director. Miyu has an uncle too.[51]

Her mom visited Japan first time a couple months before Miyu was born. It was on her lifetime bucket list. So when a girl name was needed, the parents had chosen Japanese name Miyu. The English meaning of the name Miyu depends on the Japanese kanji used, but common meanings include "beauty," "gentleness," and "superiority". Other possibilities include "beauty" and "dream," "beauty" and "play," "beauty" and "evening," or "heart" and "tenderness". In 2018, Miyu visited Japan with her family "again". Cities such as Osaka and Tokyo. Her mom made a detailed documentation of her childhood on Instagram. On Miyu's second birthday she got as gift a kid mic and a kid guitar. She just kept using the mics. Miyu must be aware of her superpowers when she was four.

Her father is a motorcycle enthusiast. Years later Miyu helped him to do some machine work sometimes and to take a ride. Her mother is obsessed reading books and hopes her bookworm gene inherits to Miyu, across all genres, cultures, authors and mostly in English and Indonesian. One day she find out that two of her favorite authors are husband & wife. She posted monthly her reading list with ratings. She was reading Matahari by Tere Liye in Indonesian and rated it 4/5 on November 2016, Matahari together, the historical Mata Hari is written separately, and somehow Matamiyu or matamiyu must been born from it when her mom needed a synonym for Miyu's new Instagram account on January 2017 when Miyu recently turned three. Synopsis of Matahari:

His name is Ali, 15 years old, in 10th grade. If only his parents had allowed it, he would have been in his final year of a physics doctorate program at a prestigious university. Ali dislikes his school, his teachers, and his classmates. Everything is boring to him. But since he discovered something strange about himself and Seli, his classmate, his boring life became exciting. I can disappear, and Seli can summon lightning. Ali himself has a little secret. He can transform into a giant bear. The three of us then embark on adventures to amazing places. His name is Ali. He has always known that this world isn't as simple as it seems. And above all, he finally realizes that friendship is the most important thing.
We know, we know. Watch these classics of a filmworm dear: Real Genius, Good Will Hunting, Gifted, Finding Forrester, Little Man Tate, Dangerous Minds, Freedom Writers etc. But mom and dad have found with Kinderfield-Highfield a pretty good school to alleviate Miyu's fate, don't they?! At least for some time...

Miyu never thought about becoming a dancer from the start. Instead, she wanted to be a police officer or a soldier. She admitted that she has been fangirling over Wanna One and BTS since she was 5 years old. When she discovered her love for the Korean KPop boy groups, she also uncovered a passion for dance. Inspired by her favorite member, Jimin of BTS, and the choreography for their hit song “Idol,” Miyu became determined to learn how to dance - Miyu's tribute to BTS when she just turned 8. But those ones really wanted her to dance were her Kindergarten teachers at her age of 6. The very first one was Ms Dewi and then other teachers of Kindergarten. They let her perform on stage, which made her really happy and felt that dance is great - Interview WHY #10 : Miyu, the Great Little Dancer! - with Miyu Ananthanaya Pranoto. Her first dance reel on IG was at the age of 6. She took her first dance class at local KBL Kelapa Gading and started seriously dancing when she was 7 old by taking more classes. She took a lot of online-classes, such as from Stezzy, Kinjaz Dojo or 1million dance x class101. Miyu's dancing when she was 9 years old, before her breakthrough. She has a deep interest in choreography. When she first time choreographed for a showcase competition it won first place at the Junior Division World of Dance Indonesia 2025. Her very first dance battle on Social-Media was on March 22, 2022 at the age of 8 at Perthosi - Michael Jackson - Billie Jean. Less then a year after she started taking her first class. She made it third place in Mang Kids category. Podcast host Rico Lubis thought she got the adrenaline rush after that and gets addicted. After undusting the "Baby Miyu Box" we found these treasures - Switch to Me - Joy P & Rain, In my Blood and AYA - Mamamoo. She performed on her first concept video when she was 8. At her very last battle as "unknown underdog" she got runner-up at Break the Limit in Pekanbaru, Indonesia on March 11, 2023. But then everything changed on March 12-19, 2023 in Da Nang, Vietnam.

Miyu’s talent and passion have made her a fast learner, easily mastering difficult dance moves that even adults struggle with. Her dance mentor, Semmy Blank, acknowledges that Miyu’s freestyling skills surpass those of many adults, highlighting her impressive foundation, technique, and musicality. Semmy thinks that Miyu is number one in Asia for girls her age. Miyu somehow doesn't like to be praised that way and prefers to be humble. She thinks her closed competition for girls her age is Malaysian Kai Xing Lee, who is about 1-2 years older than her. She felt that China is a stronghold for many up-coming freestyle talents before Vietnam and Malaysia. She especially mentioned Chinese Holy Rain (崔圣雨 (Cui Shengyu)), 14 at that time, who had beaten her in Vietnam with his stunning breaking, marched unstoppable twice through in Junior 7-to-smoke 2024 and 2025 at RF Jam in Da Nang in front of her nose and is No.5 in WDSF world ranking youth breaking on July 2025[52]. He became on August 29, 2025, WDSF World Youth Champions Porto 2025 (Gold) and is qualified for the Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026. South Korea and Japan, followed by New Zealand and Australia have already a strong freestyle & kids competition scene by adult dance industry needs for many years. Taiwan developed in last years a strong breaking scene for kids - BBoy City Taipei 2019. Before that dancers had to travel abroad to America, Near East or Europe to find strong competition, like her mentor Semmy did - Hesl & Semmy Blank (Last Minute Street Crew Indonesia) at Just Debout Paris 2011 for Team Indonesia, Semmy Blank's YT Channel.

"So if you were Bruce Lee, Semmy Blank is your Ip Man?" - She confirmed it in an Indonesian interview by Rico Lubis about the question who her biggest dance idol in Indonesia is. Semmy set once a benchmark on the show Let's Dance by three times winning with his crew, who was also a pioneer in Streetball in Indonesia. Sem got later first just a licence for teaching students and he made a career of it. He was immediately focusing on freestyle, the Last Minute Street Crew and moved to Surabaya to focus on it and later to Jakarta. Freestyle was more a way to stand out as stand-alone feature. The click he got by the movie You got Serve made him think to learn freestyle. He started watching VCDs like Battle of the Year. The street and basket ball enthusiast Semmy got impressed what Flying Steps could do with basket balls and breaking, and watched more VCDs to get into both. This had later clearly an impact on Miyu. Flying Steps, a bboy group studied together in Germany, who got famous by show tour to cool Techo sound and got a couple times World Champions - FS Academy. But they are Germans, you cannot beat classic out of them. So if Miyu is playing piano, singing and dancing in one round, it's time for America's Got Talent, we think. And Semmy got inspired from Red Bull BC One too, and also started breaking about 2003-2004 when Hip Hop had its first hype. Then he started battling a lot.

He became 7-to-Smoke Champion at Radikal Forze Jam 2015, Singapur, Champion at 2v2 Open Styles, HipHop und 7 to Smoke at Style In Motion Vol 4, Malaysia, Champion at 11 HipHop Battle im Nastiest, Singapur, 3v3 Open Styles Champion at Radikal Forze Jam 2017, Singapur, Champion at 1v1 Popping Battle of Wudang 2019, China, Champion des V1 Freestyle Online Battle 2020, Russland, Runner-Up HipHop & Top 4 Popping at the 5. Maritime Silk Road International, Street Dance Battle, Quanzhou 2023 - China, Runner Up 1v1 HipHop Battle at the Sneaker Con 2024 - Südkorea.[53] But once her joined a battle in Singapur in Hip-Hop category and lost to a dancer he thought would be just a bonus. Because musicality was like a pursuit in the sense of doing styles for him for actual freestyle. Afterwards Harry Lee said frank to him, "You have the skills, but your foundation is not strong." After that, Semmy went strait to Osaka, Japan in 2014 to seek a teacher to improve his foundation and found Dominique Kita San (ドミニク). He did a full month intensive training with him. When Miyu went to Osaka Semmy's old teacher visited her as well. Semmy thinks that Miyu and Danzel - Battling His Own Idol Who Got Him Into Waacking | Danzel (Indonesia) - are the avant-garde of Indonesia in the international dance world as re-owned stars. He compared Miyu's talent with a boy prodigy, now grown-up, in his young days - Brandon De Angelo - also from Jakarta. But because of Miyu and other young talents, Kids Indonesian Dance scene runs well, while in other countries one can count kids on fingers. Semmy's favorite enemy in jam to battle was German Majid Kessab, so Miyu had to took his class. Miyu's favorite opponent is Holy Rain. She is keen for a re-match. She wants also attend Juste Debout in Paris, France in future and in general raise the Indonesian flag as champion around the world. Miyu is not the only successful dancer Sem trained, but the most prominent. His five years daughter Diana Jovanka Neeltje Soplanit does also dancing. Let's see what will happen in future.

Miyu’s dedication to improving her craft is evident even during dance classes, where she tirelessly repeats each step until it’s perfect. Her enthusiasm to learn is illustrated by her willingness to seek guidance from her classmates, displaying her humility and determination to grow as a dancer. But her strongest supporters are her parents. They take her to dance classes, they try to understand the fundamentals and culture of dance, discussing it, although they are not dancing themselves. Both parents are working. In 2023, Miyu was focusing on four basic styles of Street Dancing - Hip-Hop, Locking, Popping and Waacking. She started like most Indonesians with K-pop. Then she focused a year into Waacking and after RF Jam in 2023 she switched to Hip-Hop. Oh, and knows also traditional Indonesian Dance and traditional east Java dance at NRG Collaboration with Cahyo Sandhidea and Dian Bokir, and a little bit martial arts in battling. Miyu dancing to Bourbon Street Jazz. Dancing to soft pop. Dancing to 70's "Grease". Dancing like Usher, Dancing to 80s rock, Dance to Kpop Jung Kook of BTS's "3D", Dancing a Crump/Poppin fusion, Dancing Contemporary, Dancing to Samba and Chacha, Dancing to Salsa/Samba fusion Dancing to Bollywood and Afro Fusion, On her first House Battle (against 250 contestants, but didn't pass preliminary), Dancing to J-Pop, Dancing to 80s British Pop.

She is a natural performer and likes playing around with her crew, opponents, audience and judges to entertain every one with her adorable charisma and uses the vibe to have fun by herself. She is a very strong performer in front of the camera too, like a Kaycee Rice. The show girl is such a choreo head that she can adopt the moves of her opponents by fair guessing what is coming next and is suddenly a synch mirrow of them. Combined with being such young she is drawing attraction into the dance world and gets invited as guest star to national and foreign events - Opening Show Indonesian Basketball League All Stars Game and Showcase at Grand Batam Mall. She claimed never had been nervous or afraid on a battle. To quote her "Just be free!" - Fear leads to the dark side of the force. - Later she admitted that sometimes she actually gets nervous before the battle.

She learns freestyle "choreography" by learning some basic style choreography and then altering it more and more. So she memorized basic movements and choose intuitively by her musicality, opponents and battle situations what fits best and rattling off her practiced basic movement sequence in battles. So she can even recognize some basic style combos of her opponents or her class mates, she has been watched and studied before, and are executing them in synchronization from the border of the jam with her opponents or crew mates. The more battles she attends and is watching, the more her movement vocabulary extends she can add to her own foundation. She got the power for the battles by constantly practicing rounds. She recommends start slowly and get more hungry for going more full out next round. That gave her strength and endurance. Her priorities on a battle are: First having fun, second musicality, third moves and fourth judges expressions. When the judges have a poker face, she is really worried.

She has a main Instagram account managed my her mom. she started on September 29, 2025 her own official TikTok and a side Instagram Account @miyusimatamiyu (Miyu, the Matamiyu). She is complaining that people open a TikTok account or a YouTube channel with her name, but didn't mark, it's just a fan account. But her Instagram is beautiful, with detailed relevant highlights of her life and had in May 2025 already 470K+ followers. On December 2, 2025 it passed already one million followers.

Freestyle is her favoured genre - she won an award in that category during her first competition: "It's more free than choreography too so it's not so much thinking exactly, it's just like freedom." Miyu's father Haris Pranoto said dance classes keep his daughter in top form as she competes across Indonesia almost every month, from Jakarta to Bali to South Sumatra. "Miyu has trained more for dance battles actually. So mentally, she has the courage for a dance battle." When she is not dancing, Miyu divides her time between school and taking piano and voice lessons. She has also taken up drawing as a hobby.[54] "After school, straight to piano lessons," says Ms Mellissa. "Tomorrow, she has singing lessons and then dance practice with her crew." - Miyu singing to Bruno Mars' Runaway Baby, Singing in School on Indonesian Independence Day. She got the honour because she won the competition in school. Miyu trains at the KBL Performing Arts music school singing and playing piano - her exam in 2022. - "Our job as parents is to find a balance so she doesn't get burnt out." - In addition to being good at dancing, Miyu is also talented in photography since she is three years old - shot1, shot2, shot3,shot4, shot5, Shot6. She is practicing dance after school about 1.5 to 2 hours a day, either by herself alone or in a dance studio in class. On weekend or school holidays she can attend bigger and long term events, and did a lot.

Miyu joined als NRG Collaboration's dance crew The Energy and competeted with them for instance on Singapore's World's Supremacy Backgrounds with her teammates. Her crew profile. On Sept 2023 Vol. 2 she performed with her friends - Aubrey Khalika, Aleyda Arsilia, Athalie Mahya, Khaira Zen, Felicia Jenna, Airin Daniella, Giannella Gaililea Kaisiepo, A. [55] Coaches were Stella Aurellia, Ra Fira, Adhitya Ramadhani, Sara Chrisenka and Morine Erine.

Most of the Jakarta citizens living traditional Islamic are Sunnits. So Miyu lives in a very conservative environment where Hip Hop is still a underground movement, especially for girls and being such young. Many girls she is battling in Indonesia wearing headscarfs. Works fine too, such as Miyu's 11 years old partner Chloe shows well at the IBl x Urban 2025. She won with the Power of Lock crew against Miyu's Plan B crew the final at Frezhmo Jam 2025.

Still just 11 years old, she wants to be a full time professional dancer, and teaching too. She - or better her parents - signed already for Jam Repubic Agency on 14 Oktober 2024 before she turned 11[56], so we gentled her that way. The Singapur based agency put her in their section for artist under age 19 called Baby Jam Squad with young talented dancers and choreographers, such as Ayden Nguyen (USA), Bella Black (NZL), Amy Liu (CHN), Ria Yamada (JPN), Kai Xing Lee (MYS) and Sienna Miroforidis (AUS). But to go full professional, she has to finish school first. Maybe she will change her taste about her future occupation later, including university; who knows. At the moment, she can imagine to run her own dance studio in the future. In a scale from 1 to 10, how she thinks to like dance in future she rates over 10. She wants to continue singing, but dancing has more priority. One must say; her networking works already fine.More fine. On December 21, 2024 she had her first pre-stage of a teaching class for her peers. She is keen to be an instructor at the Jam Republic Collective - a network of 23 studios based in 21 countries like Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand and Australia. Prodigies like Sean Lew and Bailey Sok, another of Miyu's idols, started international teaching when they were 14 years old, or Sophia Lucia when she was 15 years old. So she shouldn't have any stress here. On December 21, 2024 she had already her first workshop in Bali, Indonesia. On December 17, 2024 she competed on the Hip-Fest in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, more dances on Hipfest 2024.

In 2025, she trained with Team Motiv in Orlando, Florida, USA with their members, who are in preparation for World of Street Woman Fighter, which launched on May 27 in 23 countries - The Choom, the sequel of Street Woman Fighter 2, such as Logan Edra - Yup, that one, Ruthie Fantaye or Marlee Hightower - Yup that one, Miyu's dance on Logistx class, dancing with Marlee Hightower, with Ruthie and with Logan & Ruthie. It looks like she got the contestant list of WSWF in advance. So just only about 40 classes to go. She got strongly inspired in dancing after watching competition shows such Street Woman Fighter 1 & 2 and is keen to be one day on such a show. Now she is faster in ever thought. She took also classes from Rinka Sawakami Onēsan, who was also her Plan B crew member[58] and 진우 (Jin Woo). Before that, she was on FLAVA OF THE YEAR in Los Angeles, CA - especially mentioned Open Styles Judges Battle. That's the level Miyu is occasionally rumbling with. You grow with the challenge. Their Final Team Danzel vs Team MT Pop went this way. She got invited to a LA trip by Stance for two weeks.[59] On Xmas with The Crown to Jackson 5 at Disney Park. On New Eve, she was already in St. Monica, CA to make Michael Jackson proud with her fellows Marie Poppins Bonnevay and Lily Frias. On April 15, she danced with Nahiel Domenech in Jakarta again to Michael Jackson. She should go on tour with her own show Miyu x Michael. Looks like she was after RF Jam in Da Nang with The Crown, Rochka and Kid Nimbus on a booze cruise for a month (just kidding). On February 17, she danced on an event we couldn't find, but her dances were too good to drop. On May 20, she won the 1v1 Openstyle Kids Just Dance It Out 2025 Jakarta, Indonesia - Final. To quote "Four hours of hip-hop class, delicious food, fun at the park, and dance video time!" But not to dance is boring. So she took Bada Lee's (이바다) class at her Project Lee Dance Academy. Then she was hanging up with unnie Waackxxxy at her Gaackxxy Dance Studio to react to their Team Motiv 's dance video We the people. Miyu seems to understand a little Korean too. On October 8, 2025, Miyu landed in Los Angeles for the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final on October 11, 2025 and stayed a week. Stance has given us the hint Miyu was doing with Australian champ Nonoy Cisco a freestyle collab. And was doing a challenge with KPop boygroup Cortis. Yup, good manners are good for business. To underline her market value she posted her collaboration video with Sean Lew too by Stance to one of Miyu's pop favorite Chris Brown and with Poppin'C. We will see how it sells, or if Miyu got her first lesson about application of the "7 Ps model". Her promi status is priceless for many Indonesian dancers, however her teaching status ... Apropos status alert: It can happen any time now. A puberteer is going to break out of Miyu's chest. But Sean has already a girlfriend. The Story Behind Miyu's Performance

Miyu was guest dancer of the Mega Crew Mission with 47 dancers total in Team Motiv on Episode 4 and the public voting period on Choom. It started at Freestyle Session in November 2024 in Los Angeles when she was hanging out with team leader Marlee Hightower and visual artist Unoe Rios. Stanceelements made a dance video with them. Both observed Miyu in action before. They agreed to stay in touch. When Marlee choreographed for the Mega Crew Mission she had a visual imagine in mind where a child observed an enraged group of people of different ethnia and religions. She instantly thought Miyu was perfect of the role and contacted her family. One of the scenes that she imagined when she heard a specific part of the song was a child starring at the chaos in front of her.

With a sense of relief, Miyu's mother said that her daughter was greatly assisted by the Motiv team during the preparation period. A few days before the shooting, Motiv supplied the practice videos that had been prepared for the big performance. Of course, not everyone can be on a stage as big as World of Street Woman Fighter. However, this does not make Mata Miyu, who is a teenage dancer, feel burdened.

Miyu was one of the guest dancers who took two big scenes in the video. With great gratitude, the mother expressed her admiration for the Motiv team who she said were very professional and made many sacrifices.

Miyu is said to really enjoy the filming process with the Motiv team. Moreover, she already knows several dancers who were recruited by Motiv for the mission, such as The Crown. Even with the Motiv members who she just met, Miyu didn't feel awkward at all.[63] Mommy's behind the scene shots. She got surprised by American rapper, singer, and songwriter Armani White Miyu was often dancing to, to surprise "the legendary Miyu" he had on his Smartphone as his most favorite video on the internet since her RF Jam performance in Vietnam. Eli and her mom helped to bring them together in Orlando. They shot a freestyle session by Miyu to Armani' song "Ghost".

It wasn't meant to be that policial, because the shooting was on May 2025, a month before the ICE prosecution in US escalated. Miyu explained the choreography to Waackxxxy on her podcast channel. First she took with white clothing the control of the red dressed group, who are mad. Then she is red dressed, standing in center with view from Top and got controlled by the white dressed group. As member of the white dressed group she carrying the American flag, regarding the illustration by Unoe Rios of WE THE PEOPLE.

Mission 4: Mega Crew

The remaining 5 crews - Royal Family (New Zealand) was already eliminated in Mission 3 - have competed in a Mega Crew mission where each crew must back to their own country and show their country's color and selects a theme on which to base their own choreography and perform it with a minimum of 30 performers including themselves. Crews personally recruited their mega crew performers. Each crew has 1 director and that was the crew's leader. This mission will feature a high angle section challenge where each crew will shoot a 20-second high angle section as part of their overall mega crew mission performance.

Quotes

By Miyu

  • I think I can balance both of them. So I think, it's a little bit challenging to balance both of them, but I think I can do it. So, for instance if I have class tests maybe I should practice or study my classes before I go to the dance classes. ... Like waiting for my dance class I study first. ... Everything needs to be balanced. - Answer in an interview by Ms Uci how her dancing effects her academic career. - Her mother reported in May 2025 that her teachers are pleased how well she got the lessons. So she got less or no homework, because it was already done in school. Sounds like she gets good grades as well.
  • "I have to keep upgrading myself to be better and better."
  • "I usually watch the videos first. Just start from the basics . Like the foundation first. For example, learn popping, locking, waacking if you want to choose hip hop dance . The important thing is to just learn the basics first." - Miyu's advice for children her age who want to be dancers like her.

About Miyu

  • "Miyu Pranoto is not only an incredible dancer but also a symbol of hope and resilience. With her determination and talent, she is breaking barriers and inspiring a new generation of girls to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams fearlessly. Miyu’s journey is a testament to the fact that young girls can achieve greatness, leaving an indelible mark on the dance world and beyond." - Analyst - Michael on August 19, 2023 in The Analyst Eye - Society - Miyu Pranoto: Inspiring Girls to Break Free and Pursue Their Passions
  • "I want to be Miyu when I grow up!!!!!! She is truly 1 of 1. We are so grateful she’s here." (Marlee Hightower (25) on her IG when Miyu was 11)
  • "Such talent! Love watching this absolutely wonderful!🔥🔥" (La Toya Jackson's comment on IG to Miyu's & Nahiel Domenech performance to her brother Michael's song "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'". Went viral, of course. Or maybe Michael reincarnated female ...)
  • "Small but spicy, is the perfect expression to describe Mata Miyu. Only 11 years old, but has already reached many international dance achievements." (translated) by Muhammad Bimo Aprilianto of IDN Times on June 24, 2025 IDN Times Hype.
  • The newspapers IDN Times and Oppal ID praised her as proud and success of Indonesia.
  • "The coolest kid in town Mata Miyu will be perform at IBL All Star 2024." - Indonesian Basketball League.[95]
  • "Mata Miyu (born 2013) is an Indonesian hip-hop dance prodigy and international dance sensation, known for her freestyle and breakdancing skills. With her energy, talent, and passion, she thrills dance battles worldwide and is considered one of the best young hip-hop dancers around. [...] She has made a name for herself in global dance battles and is regarded as one of the best young dancers in the world." (Japanese Google "AI" (translated) on August 21, 2025, by entering of "Mata Miyu") - Holy Crap! ... On August 22 the German Google "AI" too ... ... Now it sticks, and on August 24, 2025, Swiss 20min reported about her as one of best Hip-Hop dancers in the world. Resistance is futile ... We found out it based on a single post, that claimed: "She is widely regarded as one of the best hip-hop dancers in the world. Not just for her age. For any age." It got heavily weighted by neuronal net and "AI" cannot distinguish is it content or instance analysis of percepton layer. So 20min.ch got quoted next time by "AI" too, enhanced "false AI statement" feedback loop, like a transistor, which got quote by next page and so on. Soon Miyu doesn't even need to touch the dance floor any more to prove her divinity.
  • "Meet Miyu! A young Indonesian who rocks the world's hiphop dance battle scenes! ✨🇮🇩😎 Miyu is only 9 years old, but she dances with power and unstoppable energy, on a par even to the older dance battlers. Fun Facts

Is Miyu's job working so young legal?

In Indonesia

In Indonesia, national students (Indonesian citizens) generally have the freedom to work during holiday periods, including semester breaks, as long as it doesn't violate any specific labor laws or regulations related to their education or the type of work and are generally not restricted in terms of the number of hours they can work. However, there are some nuances depending on the type of holiday and the nature of the job. We are assuming it counts for weekends as well. National holidays (Hari Libur Nasional) are officially recognized and provide time off from work for all employees, including students. - Holidays in Indonesia

Abroad

Normally in most countries an one-time gig of a child artist for a couple days is legal. Her agency or business partners are managing the details. In many countries their are restrictions of numbers of hours she may work per day or per week. There is also to consider that some national laws have restrictions about the amount of work she may done in other countries before to get permission to work. Especially there is to consider the amount of long-distance flights are considered as work. Even adult international sales and business men or women know it's bone work. Not just by radiation, but also by jetlag, flight itself, travelling to airports and waiting in transite lounges. The problem needs to be addressed.

The anaplabethic rate was 6.4 % in 2015. On May 27, 2025, Constitution Court of Indonesia ordered Indonesian government to provide free basic education in all schools - public and private.[99] By law public education was free, but either it was not applied or the quality of school teaching and equipment was light years away from those private schools. A typical class in public school has about 40 students. Pre-school or Kindergarten in Indonesia isn't compulsory, and usually run by private enterprises, so if you want your child to attend you have to enroll directly with the school you have chosen. Places are available for children aged between four and five or six, with fees normally payable. - wise.com - The Indonesian education system: An overview.

With more than 52 million students, three million teachers, and 400 thousand schools, Indonesia has one of the largest education systems globally. In the class of 2025 of Miyu's school unit have been 10 students accepted from foreign and 13 from Indonesian top universities. Considering 26,000 highschools, the number of senior highschool students in 2024 was 5.3 million and according to UNESCO data from February 2024 59,224 Indonesian students total are currently pursuing higher education in various countries around the world[100], the senior class of Miyu's school unit Dursaw tributes a remarkable share. They have most likely a chance to get the popular LPDP scholarship, if they want use it, because they have to come back or stay and work in Indonesia. The government initiative roots to the fact that Indonesia has a huge lag of medical doctors, engineers and other high educated experts. The deal is being debt free and get higher education in comfortable evironment, but living with lower living standards in used culture with family and friends later in Indonesia than abroad. Officially 10 percent of the population graduated universities. The government spending in education was about 40 billion USD (2.85%). The GDP of Indonesia was 1,396 billion USD in 2025. Finland, with over 6.5% share, and Sweden, with 7.6%, are among the frontrunners. Nauru (about 11,200 citizens) recorded the highest figure among the selected countries, with 7.8% in 2022. 5.44% of GDP in the US in 2022. Germany's education budget was 4.5% of its GDP in 2023 and 2024. The OECD average was 4.9% in 2021. But unfortunately, it says nothing about costs/benefits/risks/resources efficiency ratios. Taiwan and China show why an univerity degree isn't everything. About Japanese school teachers routine (PISA #1 for many years).

Jakarta metropolitan on the island of Java has the second highest population destinies in the word. Regarding 2020 census 10,562,088 people living in the city. In the metropolitan area Jabodetabek, including the cities Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi, there are 32,257,654 in the metro area (4,700/km2 (12,000/sq mi). Java's density is significantly higher than the rest of the country, reaching 1,171 people per square kilometre (3,030 people/sq mi). But there are some spots of Jakarta there are living over 40,000 people per square kilometre. In 2024, Indonesia had a population of about 285 million, to compare to the US of about 340 million.

For international schools the fees a even higher. Most international schools in Jakarta offer education starting at the preschool level, typically through kindergarten or playgroup programs. At this stage, annual tuition fees can range from approximately IDR 26 million ($1586,45 USD) to IDR 279 million ($17023,83 USD) per year, depending on the school. Similar to national schools, international schools in Jakarta offer six years of primary education. Tuition fees for this level typically range from IDR 55 million ($3355,95 USD) to IDR 431 million ($26298,46 USD) per year, depending on the school and its facilities. International schools in Jakarta offer secondary education, equivalent to junior high school. Annual tuition fees at this level range from approximately IDR 89 million ($5430,54 USD) to IDR 504 million ($30752,72 USD), depending on the school and program. To compare, the Harvard University tuition for 25/26 was $59,320 USD.[101] The semester tuition of University of Indonesia her mom visited start from 2,378 USD (Rp 7.5 million and Rp 25.2 million) per semester for a bachelor degree. The Institute of Technology Bandung her father visited charges $739 USD/year for bachelor and $1,945 USD/year for master degree in 2025.[102][103] The most expensive private school in the world is Le Rosey in Gstaad, Switzerland with an annual tuition of about $180,000 USD (150,000 CHF; € 160,000; 3,025,000,000 IDR at exchange rate of July 31,2025) - German docu (use subtitles).

A majority of these low cost private schools are religion based such as pesantren and madrasahs (30,000 -120,000 IDR ($1.83 - $7.33 USD) per month). Collectively these two institutions enroll close to 1/5th of all primary school students in the nation. With the large role that they play in providing education to the Indonesian populace, it would only be fair for these institutions to gain more government support. When compared to public schools, low cost private schools tend to be underfunded and lack adequate government support.[104] Homeschooling is legal in Indonesia. It is regulated under the National Education System 2003 under the division of informal education, which gives parents the right to select how to educate their children. This enables children being homeschooled to take a national exam to obtain an “equivalent certificate”.

As cautionary tale, school entrance examinations in Germany of daycare centers (public tuition free preschools/kindergartens) show that every year a growing number of children are not ready for school, cannot hold scissors or a pen, are motorically underdeveloped, or have severe language deficits. Currently, the figure is 30 to 40 percent.[105] And this applies not only to migrant children, but also to children from German families. That is why standards have been lowered everywhere: elementary schools, secondary schools, universities, vocational schools, training programs, and employees, as well as manager and politicians. Land of poets and thinkers?!? - That was a century ago. But face it; it doesn't look better in the US for public education and politics either. If you ask an American to point on world map on Indonesia most of them would properly fail. And if you reach them on the world map wrong - south on the top - a quarter wouldn't even notice. Right?. That would drive most likely Ms Melissa nuts. So much for the costs/benefits/risks/resources efficiency ratios in the US and Germany.

Future Development

On August 2024, the administration of Jakarta, Indonesia, plans to arrange for students from low-income families to attend up to 1,000 private schools for free in the next academic year, aiming to prevent them from dropping out because of financial problems amid the limited number of public schools.

Jhonny Simanjuntak, member of the Jakarta regional Legislative Council Commission overseeing education, noted the policy whereby poor students can be admitted to privately owned educational institutions without having to spend any money has already been implemented in 406 junior and senior high schools this year. He added that the city is set to expand the number of schools involved in the coming year. The move is believed to be feasible since those private schools are receiving school operational assistance (BOS) funds from the Jakarta administration.

Data from the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture in 2022 revealed that Jakarta had the highest drop-out rate among students across the country, at over 75,000. Meanwhile, it was allocated the highest regional budget of around 76 trillion Rp (US$4.85 billion) in the same year. Jakarta, home to over 10 million people, has a total of 8,868 schools. However, only 2,007 of them are public schools that largely exempt students from paying admission or monthly and yearly fees.[106]

Boosting of Kids Entrepreneur Skills - Project Based Learning

The International Kids Conference is this year on November 22, 2025, Surabaya, Jawa Timur 60189, Indonesia:

Creativity serves as the cornerstone of innovation and has a significant impact on various aspects of a child’s educational journey. Fostering self-assurance in creativity should commence early in life, and our responsibility is to nurture this aspect by guiding them as they progress in their learning process. By offering them opportunities to explore diverse activities and interact with different individuals, we anticipate their growth and learning within their environment. Additionally, our primary objective is to provide a platform where they can freely express their emotions, ideas, and creativity during their formative years. The International Kids Conference goes beyond this; it strives to assist children in boosting their thinking, writing, and presentation skills. - KRYA -Education R & D Center, Creativity & Innovation Ecosystem of Project based Learning - 🚀 Educate to Innovate - Information: Raya Kupang Jaya 1 AD kav. 3, Surabaya, Indonesia - Kyra Academia

Sad Facts

U.S. Department of Labor - Child Labor and Forced Labor Reports - Indonesia In 2023, Indonesia made moderate advancement in eliminating the worst forms of child labor. The Ministry of National Development Planning, together with the United Nations Children's Fund, published the first ever Landscape Analysis on Children with Disabilities in Indonesia that includes recommendations for addressing and preventing the exclusion and exploitation of children with disabilities. The government also allocated $150,000 for social rehabilitation programs for child survivors of human trafficking. Furthermore, the Ministry of Manpower increased the budget for the labor inspectorate from $15.1 million in 2022 to $22.7 million in 2023, using the additional funds to conduct inspections and investigations, as well as to build the capacity of labor inspectors. However, the Ministry of Manpower continues to lack the financial resources and personnel necessary to fully enforce child labor laws throughout the country. In addition, Indonesia's prohibitions against child trafficking are inconsistent with international standards because the Law on the Eradication of the Criminal Act of Trafficking in Persons requires that the use of threats, force, or coercion be established for the crime of child trafficking to have occurred. Finally, Indonesian law is not consistent with international law as the National Education System Act allows students to be charged fees for education.

Although the National Education System Act mandates free education, the law also permits schools to impose additional fees on students to cover items such as books, uniforms, transportation, and other non-tuition costs, which may hinder the ability of students, particularly those from low-income families, to attend school. Refugee children and Indonesian children without proper birth documentation or government-sponsored identification cards also face barriers to accessing education, because Indonesia’s formal education system is only accessible to citizens and individuals who have been officially granted residency. In addition, children with disabilities reportedly have higher rates of non-registration due to stigma and poverty.

Laws and Regulations on Child Labor:

  • Minimum Age for Work: 15 - Law on the Ratification of ILO C. 138; Article 69 of the Manpower Act
  • Minimum Age for Hazardous Work: 18 - Article 74 of the Manpower Act; Article 2 of Ministerial Decree on Jobs that Jeopardize the Health, Safety, or Morals of Children
  • Prohibition of Using Children in Illicit Activities - Articles 74 and 183 of the Manpower Act; Articles 67, 78, and 89 of the Law on Child Protection
  • Compulsory Education Age 15 - Article 48 of the Law on Child Protection; Articles 6 and 34 of the National Education System Act

Child Labor Protection in Indonesia: Its Legal Aspects and Challenges - Faculty of Law, Pancasila University, Jakarta, Indonesia 2025

Conclusion
The problem of child labor has been regulated in several laws and regulations, although some of them are still not synchronized or consistent in their implementation. At the grassroots level, there are still several factors that actually create or encourage the continued emergence of child labor employed in certain industries or factories, e.g., economic or poverty factors. Some of them are even included in the category of industries that are dangerous for children. The existence of child labor in Indonesia needs to be addressed or responded to using an approach that involves many aspects, namely economic or welfare, social and cultural, and legal aspects. This legal aspect must also pay attention to clear and firm regulatory points, solid inter-institutional coordination, supervision, sanctions, and law enforcement that refer to certainty, justice, and benefit.

Approximately 3.3% of Indonesians had a passport have traveled abroad in 2017 to data from the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), though recent information from a 2023 Pew Research Center study indicates this figure is likely still low, with a majority of Indonesians not having traveled internationally at all. International travel is often considered a luxury in Indonesia due to factors such as low income, which makes overseas travel unaffordable for most citizens. A large majority of Indonesians have not traveled internationally, even though most would like the opportunity to do so. So most of Miyu's Indonesian citizen fellows are highly interested, how a nine to eleven years old get it done 19 times, gets it paid 16 times, had been paid for it 11 times and two times being paid during it as of October 22, 2025. Mom and dad paid just the Vietnam trip to Da Nang in 2023 and a Japan vacation in 2018 from their own pocket. Around the world she is admired for it and often begrudged.

Due worse economic situation and killed people riots started in Jakarta shortly after Independence Day, close to location where Miyu did the Barbeque Jam 2025 just a few days before (DW,#2 South China Morning Post). Growing economic hardship and policies perceived as indifferent to the problems of ordinary citizens have been fueling discontent among many Indonesians for some time now. According to World Bank data, around 60 per cent of Indonesia's working population without a stable income work in the so-called informal sector, where there is no social security. Food prices have risen sharply, while at the same time employment opportunities are dwindling. In addition, the middle class is shrinking, which is further exacerbating the situation: millions of people have slipped into lower income brackets or even into complete poverty. In the past five years alone, as the Centre for Economic and Legal Studies (CELIOS) has documented, almost ten million people in Indonesia have experienced social decline.
