Biography

[edit | edit source]

Tillie began dancing at the age of two.[2] Her mom introduced her to dance, because Tillie got jealous of her brother Garrett who could do four different sports and the only thing her mom could find for her was dance. She received her early training under the direction of Elizabeth Gaus Satterlee, Carolyn Posset, and Troy D. Brown. She had also trained and competed with Studio Bleu Dance Center and Strictly Rhythm Dance Center, both located in Virginia. Her favorite style of dancing was ballet or lyrical at that time.

In her youth she had been strongly engaged fighting childhood cancer and worked for some charity organisations - such as Dance Hope Cure (Dancer vs. Cancer)[3] and TheTruth365 for about many years. She herself is suffering on scoliosis, which makes her dance career even more remarkable.[4]

In 2013, at age 10, she received a scholarship to the Kirov Academy of Ballet’s full-time program, training under Marianna Lobanova, but the academy closed later in May 2022 due COVID-19 and she continued her training before at the John Cranko Schule in Stuttgart, Germany. Since the ages of 10 or 11 dancing became her life. Tillie was awarded scholarships to attend the School of American Ballet Summer Intensive from 2015-2017 and American Ballet Theatre’s New York Summer Intensive from 2018-2019. She is a 2019 graduate of the ABT Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School.[5] Since June 2020 she is a National Training Curriculum Certified Teacher. [6]

Tillie joined ABT Studio Company in September 2019 [7], had on June 9-10, 2022 a prep performance with ABT company at the Royal Ballet And Opera House in London, UK[8], became an apprentice with the main Company in November 2022, joined the corps de ballet in June 2023 and is touring with them around the world. Her dream job was always being a professional ballerina in New York or Paris since she was 10 or younger. So mission accomplished.[9]

From April 24 to 27, 2025 she performed with ABT at the GS Arts Center Seoul, South Korea. "Korea is kool": Orgasm Valley. On June 2025, ABT opens the Summer Season with Swan Lake. Music Pjotr Tschaikowski, of course. After a five-year hiatus, ABT Principal Dancer Misty Copeland will return to the stage to take her final bow with American Ballet Theatre at ABT’s Fall Gala on October 22, 2025.[10] Tillie's post of her first week with Corps de Ballet - Rehearsals of Corp de Ballet for Swan Lake. The next week was Woolf Works by Wayne McGregor - Tillie's backstage impressions Woolf Works, followed by Giselle Choreography by Jean Coralli, Jules Perrot, and Marius Petipa - her backstage impressions Giselle , upcoming The Winter's Tale Choreography by Christopher Wheeldon, Sylvia Choreography by Frederick Ashton and BTKids Performances @ Lincoln Center Hosted by Misty Copeland.[11]

About Tillie

[edit | edit source]
  • "The choreography is busy with the finale a thrilling ride, but what really sticks in the memory is the quieter, completely absorbing duet by Tristan Brosnan and Tillie Glatz, in which he demonstrates superb soft but strong partnering." (David Mead on February 11, 2021 about ABT Studio Company’s Winter Festival).[12]

  • "This month although shared with many important matters, is National Scoliosis Awareness Month. Being a ballet dancer, I have always hid my scoliosis but thinking about how much I would have appreciated seeing a post like this when I was 13 and newly diagnosed made me change my mind. Through the years, I have learned that dancing with scoliosis is not a curse but a challenge. It has given me the opportunity to learn and feel things about my back and body that I otherwise would have never known. So to anyone discovering how to dance with curves, it’s worth the hip pain and back aches, it’s worth dealing with a brace and it’s worth going through treatments because you will find your way to not only embrace your scoliosis, but to embrace being unique." - (Tillies' IG about her scoliosis on June 26, 2020).
