Gabriel G. "Gabe" De Guzman[1] (established as Gabe De Guzman, born on February 20, 2001 in Murrieta, California) is a multi-talented professional dancer, celebrity choreographer (reel), dance teacher, actor, creative director and a college student, singer and musician with Filipino roots living in River Side, Los Angeles County, California. He is reowned for his exploding, acrobatic, contagious and energizing dance style.
Gabe got first time public eye when he performed with his partner Kaycee Rice on America's Got Talent as Kaycee & Gabe in 2014. But he was already live on stage with some big celebrities before since he was ten, such as Bruno Mars, Cee-Lo Green, and Far East Movement on Macy's Passport Glamorama in 2011.[2] He got most fame of public eye when he performed as winner of the tWitch & Allison's Kids Dance Challenge on the Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2015 and as a member of the Club Mickey Mouse and was becoming a Mouseketeer, which founded the careers of many famous artists.[3] [4] He got literally Disney's brand ambassador by that. Within the dance community Gabe was already an established star as dancer, choreographer and dance teacher, who got professional dancer when he was ten years old.[5]
He performed live on stage with Will Smith on the Kids Choice Awards 2012 at the age of 11; on the TV broadcast with most watchers in American history - 120 millions plus 80,000 in the arena - the 2015 Super Bowl XLIX halftime show, side-by-side with Katy Perry and Missy Elliott with the age of 13; live on stage with Justin Bieber when he was 14; with Ariana Grande at the live A Snow White Christmas show at the age of 10 and with Carly Rose Sonenclair at the X Factor finale in 2012 at the age of 11; just to name a few.
He is featured as dancer in the music video Lolly by Maejor Ali ft.Justin Bieber and Juicy J (267M+ views), Dirty Vibe by Skrillex ft. Diplo, CL, and G-Dragon (56M+ views), and on Paul McCartney's Channel on his new dance 2015 remix music video Say Say Say by Paul and Michael Jackson.[6]
He appeared on many TV shows such as NBC's World of Dance season one with his group Boys of Temecula, but they were eliminated in The Duels in an epic battle against The Lab, who as common known won the million dollars in season two; Dance Moms in 2015 [7] [8], The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Disney's Shake it Up, The Radio Disney Music Awards from 2015 to 2017, and many more.[9]
He did commercials, for instance, for Microsoft, Disney and Old Navy, but also for younger peer groups, such as for the toy companies Hot Wheels and Power Rangers. Gabe achieved even a particular sort of immortality by being featured in two installments of the popular Just Dance series of video games. The first, Just Dance: Disney Party, was released for the Wii and Xbox 360 in 2012; the second, Just Dance Kids 2014, as the game coach character, saw release on the Wii, Wii U and Xbox 360 the following year. He also choreographed for a Skechers “UNO” commercial in 2022.
In 2017, Gabe got first time attention as great hip-hop choreographer due his concept video "Turn Up The Music", song by his idol Chris Brown, which he conceived of and designed as the opening number of a fundraising gala. [10] His dance idols are Michael Jackson and Steven "Twitch" Boss. [11]
Gabe got homeschooled, but finished his senior years in a regular school and graduated in 2019 high school. His favor subjects were math and lunch. Since then he was going to college and in his second year at that time. Professional he wants to go more in choreographing and creative directoring. His goal is in the next years to get credits in a major film and work with a big artist. He is keen to work with Usher in future. Later after his dance career, he wants to go into fashion business. He was always a fashionista. He also wants to go back to Philippines one day. Beginning 2020 he enjoys living in River Side his single live, but he has already two ex-girlfriends.
His favorite move is jumping from different positions, sometimes with backflip, pirouettes etc, into a James Brown split. A miracle he said he never got seriously injured. Sometimes he hurted himself a little, shook it off[12] and just rushed back into battle for a new charge, because his dance style is extremely fast with brutal accents. His former permanent dance partner Kaycee Rice said about him, his spirit animal must be a cheetah, because he's so fast.[13] But because he can jump very high and far, get down and stand up very fast too, maybe Velociraptor could be the best totem for him. He is also known for his head slides, when he slide yards over the dance floor with his feet strait vertical top on his head. Derek Hough found at NBC World of Dance his head slide awesome and sick. Well, there is a reputation on stack. So when Gabe performed with BTS live on stage in Las Vegas the KPop press asked "Just who is this supremely talented human being?" when Gabe's performance went viral on April 14, 2022.[14] On December 8, 2024 another power outburst went over night viral at the Offstage Dance Studio in Anaheim to the song 'Sticky'. The post was viewed over 10 million times within two months. So he served dessert on the KAR Dance convention in Ontario to Pump It Up a week later, which got immediately viral as well.
He started dancing when he was five years old with a combo class in tap and ballet. He described himself as very shy at these days. Gabe’s parents have fully supported his dancing career right from the start. As a child, he suffered from asthma and other allergies which needed him to find an indoor activity, after came always home sick doing other sports. Since he was not getting many chances to employ his energy, his older sister got him into dancing, where he let out all his pent up passion and energy. She even wanted him to start with four. He has always had a passion for dancing, right from the time he used to dance up and down at his sister’s dance competitions. Gabe was just about ten years old when he won the Hall of Fame Junior Solo National Championship, about one year after he started competing. Due success, he had received a number of dance scholarships from prestigious training workshops, conventions and events such as Camp Pulse, Jump, NUVO, Co Dance, Monsters of Hip Hop and The Dance Awards. He is trained in jazz, tap, ballet, musical theater and contemporary. He said once “Ballet, ballet, ballet — especially for boys! It’s the foundation for everything.” But most videos he is featured he is performing hip-hop. However, his freestyle is killing it all. He said that he learned from dancing leadership, preparation, professionalism, patience and also how to attract "chicks" on a party. But to play the macho he was bullied too much in school, because he is a male dancer.
He was one of the very first members of IMMA and was a member of the crews LilBeast, TeenBeast and ImmaBeast, because he was recruited directly by "WillDaBeast" Adams before he founded IMMA - it was literally an animal thing - and Gabe joined later LilBeast, the company subsection for very young talented dancers, who became all famous later too. Another mentor was Tricia Miranda, who trained the prodigy Kaycee Rice. The stars aligned back in 2013, when two young dancers walked into Tricia's class at International Dance Academy (IDA) in Hollywood. Kaycee, then 10, and Gabe, then 12, plowed their way through an intricate hip-hop combo to Rihanna’s “Right Now,” showing dancers twice their age what it means to go full-out.
Tricia recalled:
"I saw this little kid Gabe, who was two years older than her, but still very tiny like her and they took my class one time and I put them together, because they were the only kids in my class, because I only taught adults. And they went for blood! (RR: front blond JoJo Gomez, freaking out behind Gabe was WillDaBeast Adams and video went later viral as well). [...] I remember thinking, ‘Wow, these kids are aliens,’ It’s so rare to find a student who’s mastered both performance and technique, and here I had two.” [...] And I had these idea, OMG, they need to be an duet, I will create something with them and I created these little duet "Monster" at The PULSE on Tour in 2013 and that went viral (but another performance first already deleted, about 2.5M views; found mirror). And than I was like,Ok, now I doing this kid thing. And because these both things went viral, I decided to work with kids."
Kaycee's first impression about Gabe:
“This little boy is crazy amazing. OMG, I have to dance with him." - DanceSpirit - Gabe De Guzman and Kaycee Rice Are a Stage Match Made in Hip-Hop Heaven
But there was an obstacle for their rehearsals; Kaycee and Gabe lived three hours apart from each other, because he was grown up in Temecula valley, and she lives in the LA metropolitan area. They often just met each other in LA in classes, conventions or sometimes at Studio 13 in Simi Valley, which Kaycee's mom owned and Kaycee joined later IMMA too. But they got later the opportunity to work intensively together, when they became both The Pulse Elite proteges in New York 2015, toured across the US with some celebrity choreographers, and many other very talented industry dancers, and graduated together as Elite Almnani in 2016. But after that they had separated paths. Tricia once was kidding on the Yuma Hip-Hop festival that Kaycee left Gabe for her new partner Sean Lew. But if it would be some truth in it, Gabe wasn't a child of sadness, because he toured with his and also Kaycee's best friend Tati McQuay through the Philippines and visited eight cities together and had workshops,[15] taught together in three cities in Columbia and in the Dominican Republic. But when we made research for Tati's page, we started realizing that Tati is actually not a child of sadness.
He made actually more projects with the boys and his friends, such as, Sean Lew, Josh Price and later Julian DeGuzman. And formed with Sean, Josh, Kenneth San Jose, Grant Knoche, Big Will Simmons, Josh Cruzwith with a little changing cast the boy dance group Boy Squad and made a complete 26 episodes long-term series of it since 2015. [16] [17] [18] But it wasn't a males only. They were sometimes counterparted with a girl squad by Bailey Sok, Tahani Anderson, Tati McQuay, Sierra Neudeck and Leanne Tessa.[19] But he worked also permanently together with his best buddy "Big Will" Simmons and about a year with AC Bonifacio.
In 2018, he danced and choreographed for Leanne Tessa's "Runnin'" dance video.
In 2019, he appeared on the official dance video Alan Walker, Sabrina Carpenter & Farruko “On My Way” with his former girlfriend Autumn Miller and did also the choreography. They were dating each other a short time in 2017.[20] He made also a nice promotion for Disney's Descendants 3 | Good to Be Bad in collaboration with DanceOn.
Gabe has already an impressive non-dance acting career. In 2020, he played Logan in released "To the Beat!: Back 2 School" movie, played main role Justin in Maritte Lee Go's short film Illipino and performed on Disney's musical CGI-addon animation The Little Mermaid Live!. He performed on Phil Wight's parody of The Mask starring Jim Carrey and was doing very well as the villain.[21] Worked out good, so Phil shot next parody of Rush Hour starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker and introduced Gabe's fast arm movements as Kung Fu elements [22]. So stick more into acting seems be a good idea. Thought some producer and directors as well and Gabe got minor roles on the He's All That movie and on drama series Goliath; brought him closer to the big ones, including Academy Awards winner Billy Bob Thornton in 2021.[23] Her appeared also as dancing student on Kylie Cantrall - No Reason dance music video.
In 2021, he choreographed for Kylie Cantrall's Switched Phoned (Behind-the-Scene video).
In 2022, Gabe choreographed for the Duo "Maceo Sicam & Albert Sicam (father of Maceo)" on CBS new show Come Dance with Me (TV series), but Albert injured his foot and the duo had to withdraw. However, Maceo got the opportunity to perform the dance live with Gabe in Week 1: First Dances on the show.[24] Duo success Gabe was ordered to choreograph another three more pieces on episode 2 -"pop night" of the show.[25] On July 2022, Gabe choreographed for the duo Carter Williams & ʙᴀɪʟᴇʏ ᴍᴜñᴏᴢ (All-Star Winner Season 16) for season 17 episode 9 of So You Think You Can Dance. [26] He appeared as himself also on one episode of the Netflix Mini Series "Boo, Bitch!" - S1-E6 "Who Dat Bitch?".[27] He choreographed also for Nickelodeon's Jingle Bell Rock & More Songs w/ That Girl Lay Lay & Pentatonix | The Great Nickmas Tree Sliming.[28] He choreographed also for the Giovanni Niubo's "Bets On U" music video.
For February 1, 2023, he choreographed for ABC's 50 years anniversary show of "SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK" and the Singalong Team [29] After that he choreographed for the opening show of Nickelodeon's Kids Choice Awards 2023 for co-host Charli d'Amelio, ten years after he performed on same show with Will Smith as dancer.[30] On February 1, the Nicky Swift Magazine posted a nice resume of Gabe's early years - Television - Things You Didn't Know About Gabe De Guzman.
In 2024, he choreographed with his friends Kelly Sweeney and Tahani Anderson the music video YAS - sky walking | Presented by STEEZY x Nike Air Max, BTS video of the choreographers. On January 11, Gabe performed with his buddy Big Will Simmons, who also choreographed, and Brianna Mazzola to her new music video "sweet dreams (are made of this)". A remake of Eurythmics', Annie Lennox', Dave Stewart's big hit of the 80's. On November 27, he performed at the Playground London. Then he vacationed on Maldives and in Dubai. [31]
In 2025, Gabe was honored to be requested by the Bison Dance Team of the North Dakota State University to choreograph their NDSU D1 Hip-Hop 2025 performance for the Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championships at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando from January 17 to January 19.[32] More performances by NDSU Bison Dance Team: D1 Game Day 2025, D1 Pom : 5th Place. For February 17, he announced to dance on a charity event for the Palisades' burned Fancy Feet Dance Studio, local community and displaced families in need, renowned dancers who already joining are Nicka Kljun, Kelly Sweeney and Jamal Sims. Minimum donation is $30 USD. Details are managed by promoter Mihran K. Studio and The Spellman Sisters. On November 6, 2025 he performed on NBC's Wicked: One Wonderful Night with stars such as Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Bowen Yang and Ethan Slater and more - Youtube Playlist, Peacock Stream. A NBC TV Special to the theatrical hit Wicked: For Good Musical Feature.[33]
TV Competition Shows
[edit | edit source]America's Got Talent
[edit | edit source]In 2014, Gabe competed on season 9 of AGT with her dance partner Kaycee Rice as Kaycee & Gabe. NBC had invited them to take the audition, after their "Monster" video on The Pulse on Tour went viral.[34] But they were eliminated during Judgment Week. [35] Judge Howie Mandel voted "No", because he felt Gabe was much better than Kaycee.[36] He did not know that she had a broken foot [37], because she did not tell. Otherwise she would not being allowed to perform on stage and had to let down Gabe.
tWitch & Allison's Kids Dance Challenge
[edit | edit source]In 2015, the duet with Kaycee Rice was much more successful on The Ellen DeGeneres Show season 13, where they both won the prize to get a chance being on the Ellen show. At the beginning it was announced that just one kid was allowed on Ellen, but they danced together first round as duo, were been accepted, spitted up for next one [38] [39] [40] and at the end met each other as finalists. [41] However, tWitch & Allison were so amazed by their talent, that they had spoken with Ellen let them both on the show, but they didn't tell, until final duel was battled out. After then they had shown the kids a video of Ellen telling them the good news. On the show, they performed as a quartet with tWitch & Allison, after a short interview by Ellen. [42] Due their success they made it on the Jan 2016 cover of the DanceSpirit magazine. [43]
World of Dance
[edit | edit source]In 2017, on the NBC World of Dance show season 1 he performed with his group Boys of Temecula. Gabe never said what the picture he laid Jennifer on the desk at the duels was all about.
